Scripture - Est 9:1-3 Now in the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar, on the thirteenth day, the time came for the king's command and his decree to be executed. On the day that the enemies of the Jews had hoped to overpower them, the opposite occurred, in that the Jews themselves overpowered those who hated them. 2 The Jews gathered together in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus to lay hands on those who sought their harm. And no one could withstand them, because fear of them fell upon all people.
Observation - The Jews had come into great power under King Ahasuerus and were being tormented and persecuted by those in adjacent cities and provinces. The leaders of these areas sought to do great harm to the Jews. I think the key phrase in this passage is "the opposite occurred". It is amazing what happens when the King is involved. All of a sudden what your enemies intend for harm actually turns out for good. The bible is so interesting in the description of God turning bad situations into good and what was meant for evil into something good for your life. God is a master a spinning the circumstances and creating situations where you can and will overpower your enemy.
Application - To look at a situation and know that what was intended to take me down will only bring me up. That every fight I fight is fought with the outcome already sealed. I can overcome, I will overtake the enemy that has his sights set on my destruction. In a world that is so negative and defeated - it is good to know that even though there are things that want to bring me down "The Opposite Occurred". I have the Kings blessing in the fight and that makes all the difference in the world. I have the King behind me to insure the victory.
Prayer - Keep me focused on the opposite. God every time the enemy tries to take me down, remind me that the opposite will occur.
