Scripture - Luke 7:47 "Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many are forgiven, for she loved much, but to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little."
Observation - Jesus is making a point here about the degree to which people appreciate their relationship with Him. He says that those who are forgiven much will love much, but those who are forgiven little will love little. In other words if you haven't been forgiven much - you take for granted the degree of your depravity and are less likely to show compassion and gratitude for your current condition.
Application - I think very pointedly we should all understand that no matter what kind of life we lived before Christ - we have all been forgiven much and therefore should love much. Each one of us had the condition for eternal damnation prior to our life with Christ. Whether drug addict, murderer, adulterer, cheater, or liar - we were all headed to the same end. Christ has redeemed us and given us that new life leading to eternal grace and mercy. We have ALL been forgiven much - we ALL should love much and be eternally grateful for our current condition - saved and set free.
Prayer - Father let me never take for grated the grace you bestowed on my life and the new life you have given me, a life free from guilt and emptiness. You have filled my life with joy and hope. I love you Father!
