Scripture - Gen 25:6 But while he was still alive, he gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
Observation - I am so impressed with Abraham to not only prepare inheritance for Isaac but while he was still living he was giving inheritance to his other sons. Abraham passed on to his sons more than just wealth. He passed on care and compassion and the Godly wisdom to take care of your family. Inheritance was an issue of Godly direction and value as a father. It was considered problematic if you had nothing to pass on to your children.
Application - What are we passing on to our children? What inheritance are we leaving them. Abraham left legacy with his children. Are we investing in our sons and daughters while we are still living? Are we giving them the knowledge of God and the wisdom of Godly principles? Or after we are gone are we leaving them to scramble and find them for themselves?
Prayer - Father help me to be the model for my children. Help me to pass on a rich inheritance of Godly wisdom and Godly living that will bless them for generations to come.
