Scripture - Luke 12:15 Watch out! Be on your guard against all kind of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.
Observation - Jesus was teaching his disciples to focus on spiritual gain over worldly possessions. Money, wealth, and possessions only serve to distract us from the real purpose of life. Scripture describes a man with overflowing barns and didn't know what to do. So he built bigger barns. Those possessions should have been used to bless the kingdom - but the focus was on the possessions not on the kingdom.
Application - Be on guard - words of wisdom and caution. It is so easy to focus on the wrong things in life. To focus on making money even earning wages as your main focus can distract you from the provision of God. Jesus said "Your father in heaven knows you need them - BUT seek first the kingdom. Seek first the kingdom and all will be added. Seek first is the key - it isn't the possessions that becomes the issue or earning wages - both are good things for believers to do - its the seek first part that is key.
