Matthew 5-7

Scripture - Matthew 7:7 Ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Observation - God knows the things you have need of before you ask. His entire goal is to get us into relationship with Him. He knows the things we need and how to get them to us. When we need one thing He is not going to give another. God is waiting for communication from me. He is waiting to talk to me, He wants me to ask, knock, seek and find. He has set up a system of Father - Son that I might access the good things of God by simply asking Him. As I pray and seek God for the things in my life and in my ministry, He already knows the things I need and desire and is ready to give them to me. The key here is the last line - The Father in Heaven gives good things to those who ask Him.

Application - I don't think I am asking enough. I know that this can seem like we are using God as an A.T.M machine, but there we must go to the father. I am reminded of David in the old testament constantly inquiring of God. Shall I Go? He would say or Will You Deliver Them? He would ask, or in 1 Sam 30 he simply dwelt in God's presence for encouragement. My mother in law used to say "No Battle Fought in Prayer is ever lost!" God knows what battles I am fighting and what things I need in my life, He is simply looking for me to ask Him for those things.

Prayer - Father - I come asking today. I need you in so many ways. Honor my prayer as I come asking, seeking, knocking and prayerfully finding today. Amen
