Gen 39-41; Luke 16

Scripture - Gen 39:6-9 Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. 7 And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said,"Lie with me." 8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. 9 There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"

Observation - Joseph had just been placed in a very esteemed position by Potiphar. What his brothers had intended to hurt him, God intended to bless him. Joseph continued to find favor with God and with man because of God's blessing on his life. Joseph was doing exactly what he was supposed to do - tending to the business of the house. Joseph was striving to fulfill God's call and God's direction and was working diligently to honor God with everything he was doing. Potiphars wife saw the favor of God on Joseph and attempted to sleep with Joseph - she was a snare to his life and his ministry.

Application - Even though you are doing everything right, you are striving for excellence and striving to bring honor to God with all of your actions - the enemy is sent as a snare to you. The enemy will attack in your prominent hour, he will attack right in middle of the best job in the world. Right when you think - man I am moving ahead with God, I want to serve him with all my heart and will honor him with my actions - something will pop up and want to cause you to stumble. Joseph was honorable in his actions and withstood the temptation. He did not give in, even though no one would know, God would see and be disappointed.

Prayer - Father allow my actions in secret and in public to please you. Let me be aware of the temptation of the enemy and to act honorable in-spite of the offers.
